On Tuesday, Dec 10, I gave a slideshow presentation to the Gloucester Rotary Club. After the meeting, four men from the Club’s Project Team visited our garden for a walking tour, including the Club President and Project Architect.
The first slide in my slideshow was my grandparents, John and Emily Fraser (Mom’s mom and dad), who were Rotarians in Seneca Falls, NY. The second slide was Dad and Mom at the Hearthstone Assisted Living in Marlboro, MA, enjoying a moment in the enclosed courtyard on Mother’s Day, 2008. The third slide was a friend, Peggy Rochon, and Mom at the Belmont, MA, McLean Hospital in July ’08, visiting with smiles, just outside the building, on the tiny patio. These examples I used to show the importance and value of having an outdoor space and breath of fresh air available at any long-term-care setting… These experiences sowed our passion for developing our wheelchair-accessible Gardens and the MargFMac Front Garden Loop (0.1 mile). The Garden development started in 2009, the first season we owned the home… now the Garden is 10-years old!!
