While in Syracuse, my father treated me to the services of a local massage therapist, Beth Margulis. Before our session, I mentioned that I’d like to work on releasing residual stress held within my body (specifically related to my 18 month acute stress experience caregiving for mom with FTD – I’ve referred to this before as a non-stop hurricane which had devastating effects). Beth mentioned EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) as a helpful practice as well as the website capacitar.org (this was the second referral of these resources within a month, so again, I listened and now share with you). The capacitar.org website offers an Emergency Response Kit (click here to download).

The Emergency Kit was Capacitar’s response to the trauma of Hurricane Katrina. The kit includes simple basic practices taught by Capacitar to empower people to deal with the stress of challenging situations. Practices include: Tai Chi, Fingerholds, EFT, The Holds, Head-Neck-Shoulder Release, and Acupressure points for stress, crisis and depression.

Please share this information with family and friends currently experiencing acute stress or recovery and renewal from a stressful experience.
