Energizing & Relaxing: Drum Circle Memory Café

We enjoyed getting into the groove this past weekend: Saturday, December 15, 10am – 12pm, at our Topsfield Memory Café at Trinity Church.

Karen, a Memory Café volunteer, enjoyed loosening up and going with the flow!

A total of 16 joined our circle.  A team of 6 volunteers welcomed 10 guests from Topsfield, Beverly, and Gloucester.  Some brought their own drums.  Some used ours.  After the 60-minute facilitated session, three young men originally from Nigeria, Solomon, Happy & Friday, now professional care partners, thrilled us with their djembe and gathering drum rhythms.

We are now putting together a small group to play mid-January – mid-March, on a weeknight (Mon, Tues or Wed – to be decided by the majority of folks interested).

If you’d like to drum with us weekly starting in the new year, please contact us.  You can bring your own drum, or borrow one from our collection (funded by MA DDS).

Moving forward with a listening heart,

vision, inquiry, and action,

Mary

Sharing Our Roots Memory Café

Topsfield Winter Memory Café Flyer 2018-2019

November 3, 2018 was our first indoor Topsfield Memory Café at Trinity Church (this 2018-2019 season).  It was a good chance for the new volunteer team to bond, as zero guests attended.  Myself, Karl, Jon, Paula, Kim, Karen, and Gale have committed to 4 of 5 indoor sessions at Trinity Church, November – March.  Lynne Bermudez facilitated the Furry Friends visit.  We enjoyed seeing the dogs before we got settled in our sharing circle.  As each person shared an object from their home, we heard more about their values and background.  After showing and telling, each person placed their object on the table with the bare branch.  When all objects were on the table we noticed the diversity and unity of our volunteer group.  Attached is our 2018-2019 Winter Memory Cafe flyer.  Please share with friends, print and post.  Thanks!

Moving forward with a listening heart,

vision, inquiry, and action,

~ Mary

Bizzy and Gloria Mersha Take Home Lilac ‘Maiden’s Blush’
Saturday, 5/19, 10am – 12pm, the weather was beautiful. We were able to host our Memory Café in the Garden®, in the 0.1 mile MargFMac Front Garden Loop. Guests enjoyed smelling the lilacs and kidding around with goats (brought to our program for the first time, by our neighbors who raise them ~ Thanks Evangeline and family!). Please enjoy photos from this event below.

Karl and I hosted this event without staff or volunteers (we typically like to operate with 1 staff and at least 4 volunteers). Please contact me by e-mail if you would like to join our team as a part-time event staff or volunteer.
